[Ecosystem Ponds]Pond Design & Installatation

Science World Wetland

Built in 2024, this Science World water feature is a 100 by 40 foot ecosystem wetland that combines natural waterfalls, filtration, and native planting to showcase BC’s freshwater systems.

This commercial project involved removing an outdated, overgrown wetland and rebuilding it as a fully functioning ecosystem wetland designed for both performance and education. Spanning approximately 100 by 40 feet, the system was built to highlight how natural water systems function in British Columbia. The water feature includes boulder waterfalls that create movement and oxygenation, paired with a large scale wetland filter that naturally maintains water quality. Native plant species were carefully selected and installed throughout the wetland, supporting biodiversity and creating habitat for local wildlife. Located at Science World in downtown Vancouver, the pond is designed as both a visual attraction and a learning environment. Visitors can experience the water feature up close while gaining a better understanding of natural freshwater systems and their importance within the local ecosystem.
