Coquitlam Waterfall

Built in 2021, this 25 foot waterfall water feature brings movement and life to a Coquitlam backyard, using granite boulders and layered planting to create a calm, natural setting.

This Coquitlam water feature began with a sloped backyard of dead grass and sand, lacking both function and visual appeal. The goal was to introduce the peaceful sound of running water while creating something that felt naturally part of the landscape. A 25 foot waterfall was shaped using large granite boulders, forming multiple drops that create a steady, soothing sound as water moves through the feature. The stone was placed with care so the water feature feels settled into the slope, rather than built on top of it. Planting throughout the space softens the stonework and adds seasonal color, helping the water feature blend into its surroundings. Over time, it has also become a small habitat, attracting birds throughout the spring and summer. The result is a simple, well balanced water feature that transforms the yard into a more inviting and peaceful space, fitting naturally within this Coquitlam property and the surrounding Lower Mainland environment.
