Coast Modern Pond
Originally built in the 1960s as part of a West Coast modern home, this overgrown water feature was reimagined into a balanced ecosystem pond with fish, plants, and inviting access points.
This project began with a failing pond that was overgrown, leaking, and no longer functioning properly. While it held architectural significance, it lacked the structure and filtration needed for long term performance. We removed the original feature and rebuilt it as a natural ecosystem pond, designed to feel integrated with the surrounding landscape while improving clarity, balance, and usability. Stonework was carefully placed to shape the edges and create subtle access points, including natural steps that invite interaction. Aquatic plants and fish now support a healthy, self-sustaining system, turning what was once a problem area into a clean, living water feature that feels both timeless and functional within the West Vancouver setting.
